Van Buren R-1 School District

The mission of the Van Buren R-1 School District, in cooperation with the community, is to ensure that all students will learn in a safe and positive environment in order to become productive, future ready citizens.

The Van Buren R-1 School District is located in Van Buren, Missouri on the beautiful Current River in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways Park. We have approximately 500 students and 90 employees with a strong tradition of excellence. We offer many different programs that includes athletics and clubs for a school district of our size. Our athletic programs have seen success with three Missouri state championship titles, two in boys basketball and one in softball, along with numerous district titles in various sports. We have active chapters of the National Beta Club and Future Business Leaders of America, and we have recently implemented a successful J.A.G. program. We are celebrating our tenth year of success with the 21st Century Grant which funds our before and after school programs.

We are also proud to offer an extensive amount of technology to enhance the educational process. We are 1:1 with Chromebooks in grades 1-12 as part of our initiative to prepare our students for the future. Our goal is to provide students with access to all of the assistance they may need in order to be successful with their post-secondary choices. With that in mind, our high school is an A+ certified school, and we also have a community sponsored scholarship program for qualifying students to attend Three Rivers College tuition free. Our Early Childhood Program was named the Early Childhood Educational Program of the Year in 2017. Our elementary school prides itself in supporting students with all needs. In 2019, we were recognized by DESE as a Silver PBIS School due to the effective implementation of our Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support program. The PBIS program creates a safe and effective school by structuring the learning environment to support the academic and social success of all students.
