This Saturday, Jan. 9, the Van Buren R-1 School district, along with Big 3 Athletics, are hosting Legends of the Hardwood Classic, formerly the Scoreboard Guy Shootout. Our idea with this event is to honor a local to semi-local figure, or a team which had an impact on our area, or will forever be a topic for discussion. This year our honoree is Franklin “Brownie” Smith. His long-time assistant coach, Steve Dodd, will speak before the Van Buren / Gateway game highlighting his amazing career.
Admission will be $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and we will have a full concession stand. We will have extra restrooms available in the FEMA if needed. Masks are required upon entry and while moving throughout the facility. Once you are in your seat your mask may be removed.

Halloween 2020! While we may have scaled back our plans, these kids had a blast today! We are very thankful to the staff who helped make this happen and the generous donations that we received to pay for the fun! We hope all our kids have a safe and Happy Halloween tomorrow!!

To increase communication and transparency with the community, we have added a district COVID-19 case tracker to our website on the COVID-19 resources web page. At this point, we will update this weekly or as needed.
